What We Stand For

The old-time Baptists believed that God had given them His Word, the Bible, in the English language. That inspired Scripture has been preserved supernaturally by the Holy Spirit in the King James Bible. It was for them, and is for us, the authority for our daily life.

There are those today that believe that only the originals of the Holy Bible were inspired, and now that those have been "lost" we only have a "close" copy which needs brilliant minds to bring us what God had said. The scholars then become the authority over Scripture, and the poor church member must rely on their expertise to know what the Lord wants of them. So, since 1880 two hundred and nine (209) "new" translations have been produced, all supposedly better than the King James Bible.

We say that God did preserve His Bible, and that the parts that are clear on salvation, holy living, and eternity are within the grasp of the common man to know and follow.
